The Odate Ame- Market, a winter tradition for about 400 years, is held annually in Odate City. Legend says eating the candy sold here prevents colds for the entire year. The main street transforms into a lively market with many stalls selling various candies, including the iconic "branch candy" (ame attached to mizuki branches). The market also features the White Bearded Deity Procession, an Akita dog parade, and a traditional "Marumage" procession by local women. It's easily accessible by bus from JR Odate Station or by car, making it a unique cultural experience.
