The Kanzagawa Headworks, officially named "Kanzagawa Weir and Headworks," was completed in 1997. This facility plays a crucial role in the Toyokawa Water Supply Project, addressing water shortages in the Mikawa region and the Atsumi Peninsula. The water diverted here is channeled to the upper reaches of the Ono Headworks on the Uren River, eventually supplying water to the Hatsudachi Pond near the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula without the need for pumping. While not visually grand, its efficient design makes it a vital component of the water supply system. Dam cards have been available since April 2023, obtainable at the Ono Headworks, about 11 km away.
