Yasukitsuneyama Tozo-ji Temple is located atop Mt. Tozo in Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture. Accessible by a 15-minute drive from Kakuda Station on the Abukuma Express to the Tozo-yama parking area, followed by a short hike, this temple offers a serene escape into nature. It is the fourth temple on the Oshu Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage, founded in 807 by Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, enshrining a Thousand-Armed Kannon. Nearby, you'll find Tozo Shrine, said to be established by Yamato Takeru during his eastern expedition. Don't miss the Thirty-three Kannon Hall on your way back. This temple is best visited in the morning or afternoon to fully appreciate the natural surroundings and historical significance.
