Sukegawa Castle Ruins Park

Overview

Sukegawa Castle Ruins Park, located in Hitachi, is the site of the former Sukegawa Coastal Defense Castle, built in the late Edo period for maritime defense. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and reflect on the history of the late Edo period. The park now serves as the entrance to the Takasuzu hiking trail. Key features include remnants of stone walls and earthworks. The park is known for its plum and cherry blossoms in spring, and colorful foliage in autumn. It's easily accessible by car, being 10 minutes from JR Hitachi Station and 15 minutes from the Hitachi-Chuo Interchange on the Joban Expressway.
