Discover Japan's pioneering geothermal power plant in Hachimantai, Iwate. The Matsukawa Geothermal Museum offers insights into geothermal energy with exhibits and a look at the power generation facilities. While the power plant itself requires reservations for tours, the museum is open to all. Located near Matsukawa Onsen, it's an ideal stop during a drive along the Hachimantai Jukai Line, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season. Note that the museum is closed on Tuesdays and during the winter months (mid-November to mid-April).
