Rengeji Temple, located in Hiji, is a historic Shingon Buddhist temple that once served as a prayer site for the Hiji clan. Originally moved to its current location to protect Hiji Castle from evil spirits, the temple features a serene atmosphere and notable cultural assets, including a Senju Kannon statue from the Kamakura period. Visitors can explore the temple grounds, admire the traditional architecture, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. The temple is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from JR Hiji Station. Don't miss the 400-year-old Satsuki tree in the back garden, known as the 'Satsuki Garden.'
