Located within the Chido Museum in Tsuruoka, Yamagata, the Sakai Family Garden is the former residence of the Sakai family, lords of the Shonai domain. This nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty features a traditional Japanese garden that was restored in 1971. Visitors can enjoy views of the garden from the former Shonai domain lord's residence or stroll through the meticulously designed landscape with its pond and carefully arranged pine trees. The garden is known for its serene atmosphere and the potential for views of Mount Chokai on clear days. Admission is ¥800 for adults, ¥400 for students, and ¥300 for elementary and junior high school students. It's easily accessible by bus from Tsuruoka Station.
