Taisho Pond, formed by the eruption of Mount Yake in 1915, offers a stunning view of the Hotaka mountain range reflected on its surface. Located in Kamikochi, it's easily accessible by a 50-minute car ride from Matsumoto IC followed by a 30-minute bus and a 1-minute walk, or a 70-minute bus ride from Shin-Shimashima Station on the Matsumoto Electric Railway followed by a 1-minute walk. Note that the pond is at an altitude of 1500m. The pond's serene beauty is best experienced in the morning when the water is calm, offering perfect reflections. Over time, the pond has become smaller due to sediment accumulation, making a visit now all the more precious.
