The Odanoke House, located in Kakunodate's Bukeyashiki district, offers a glimpse into the lives of mid-ranking samurai. This historic site, designated by Semboku City, was rebuilt after a fire in 1900, preserving the architectural style of the late Edo period. While the interior is viewed from the outside, visitors can admire the traditional garden, influenced by Kyoto garden design. The Odanoke family, originally martial artists, produced Odano Naotake, a renowned artist of Akita Ranga who contributed illustrations to "Kaitai Shinsho." Open from 9:00 to 16:30, it's closed during winter (December to mid-April).
