The Shirakawa-go Light Up is a special winter event held on select weekends from late January to mid-February. During this time, the iconic gassho-style farmhouses are illuminated, creating a magical and unforgettable scene. Located in the village of Ogimachi in Gifu Prefecture, Shirakawa-go is easily accessible via the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. The light up event takes place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Due to its popularity, parking and observation deck tickets are often reservation-only, so booking accommodation or joining a tour is highly recommended. Be prepared for snowy conditions and crowds, but the breathtaking views are well worth the effort.
