Shamisen Falls

Overview

Shamisen Falls, located along National Route 278 in Shikabe, Hokkaido, is named for the sound of its cascading water resembling a shamisen (a traditional Japanese instrument) or the way the water once flowed like three strings. The falls drop approximately 50 meters. It's easily accessible with a small parking area, making it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the coastal route. While some reviewers found the falls modest, it offers a peaceful break with the sound of the falls and the nearby sea. Best visited during a scenic drive along the coast.
