Hatayama

Overview

Hatayama is a historical site located in Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. This small hill, only 20 meters high, is where Minamoto no Yoshitsune is said to have planted the Genji's white flag to raise the morale of his troops before attacking the fleeing Heike clan during the Genpei War. At the summit, you'll find a striking equestrian statue of Yoshitsune, reportedly one of the largest in Japan. Visitors can also explore the Hachiman Shrine and enjoy seasonal flowers like rapeseed blossoms near the torii gate. It's a great spot to experience a bit of Japanese history and scenic beauty.
