The Kawamura Kaneto Ainu Memorial Museum in Asahikawa is Japan's oldest private Ainu museum, founded in 1916 by Kaneto Kawamura to preserve Ainu culture. It showcases Ainu artifacts, tools, and a traditional 'chise' (Ainu house) to illustrate their way of life. Visitors can also see Kawamura's surveying equipment, reflecting his career as a surveyor.
