Kokubunji Temple, the 29th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, was founded in 739 by the Buddhist priest Gyoki. The main hall, said to have been rebuilt by Motochika Chosokabe, houses a Senju Kannon Bosatsu (Thousand-Armed Kannon) statue. The temple grounds feature a serene garden with moss and a statue of Jizo dedicated to helping people overcome alcohol addiction. Nearby, visitors can explore the ruins of the ancient provincial government complex associated with Ki no Tsurayuki, the author of the Tosa Diary. Located in Nankoku, Kochi Prefecture, the temple is accessible by bus from Gomen Station. It's a tranquil spot to experience history and beautiful scenery.
