Located in the heart of Matsugasaki Park on the former site of Yonezawa Castle's inner palace, Uesugi Shrine is dedicated to Uesugi Kenshin. Designed by Yonezawa native Chuta Ito, also known for his work on Meiji Jingu and Heian Jingu, the current main hall was rebuilt in 1923. Visitors can explore the shrine's beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere. The shrine is accessible via a 10-minute bus ride from Yonezawa Station, followed by a 5-minute walk from the Uesugi Jinja-mae bus stop. Don't miss the Keishoden, which houses valuable cultural assets (admission fee applies). Wheelchair rentals and accessible slopes are available.
