Higashi-Naruko Onsen is a quaint hot spring town with a nostalgic atmosphere, known since the Edo period as a retreat, once featuring a private 'Gotenba' for the Date family of the Sendai Domain. This compact onsen district, approximately 300 meters long, offers a variety of traditional ryokans and shops. The hot springs are known for their diverse qualities, including simple, chloride, bicarbonate, and sulfate springs, with temperatures ranging from 30°C to over 100°C. They are reputed to alleviate chronic skin conditions, gynecological issues, cuts, burns, and are beneficial for children, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, and hypertension. Located in Naruko Onsen, Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, it's a 5-minute walk from Naruko-Gotenyu Station on the Rikuu East Line and a 35-minute drive from Furukawa IC on the Tohoku Expressway.
