The Maiden Statue (Otome no Zo) is a bronze sculpture located on the shore of Lake Towada, a short walk from the Yasumiya bus terminal and visitor area. Created by renowned sculptor and poet Kotaro Takamura, it commemorates the 15th anniversary of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park. The statue depicts two nude women facing each other, said to be modeled after Takamura's wife, Chieko. It's a popular photo spot and a symbol of Lake Towada, best visited during the day to appreciate the surrounding natural beauty. The statue is easily accessible via a pleasant walking path along the lake.
