Furepe Falls, also known as Maiden's Tears, is a picturesque waterfall located within Shiretoko National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accessible via a scenic 20-minute walk from the Shiretoko Nature Center, the falls are formed by groundwater trickling down a 100-meter cliff face into the Sea of Okhotsk. The gentle cascade resembles tears, hence the romantic name. The trail is generally easy, though conditions may vary depending on the season, with snow possible in winter. Visitors can also view the falls from the sea via a sightseeing cruise. The best time to visit is during the warmer months to fully enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
