Located in Okawachiyama, Imari, the Meotoshi Tower is a unique attraction that combines art and tradition. As you cross the Toko Bridge at the entrance to Okawachiyama, sensors trigger a melody played by 14 Imari ware wind chimes. The term 'meotoshi' refers to the technique used by Edo-era potters to check pottery for cracks by sound, a skill recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as one of Japan's 100 Soundscapes. Visitors can enjoy the serene soundscape created by the wind chimes and the nearby river. The tower is especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season.
