Orihata Shrine, one of the Munakata Five Shrines, is located in the fishing town of Kounosaki. It is known for its connection to Empress Jingu, who is said to have woven red and white flags for battle here. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Genkai Sea, Oshima Island, and the Kounosaki harbor from the shrine grounds. Be prepared for a climb up a long stone staircase to reach the main hall. The shrine is also known as a stopover point for migrating Asagi Madara butterflies. Ample parking is available near the torii gate.
