The Nanbu Magariya (Chiba House) is a magnificent curved house located along the old Morioka Road, considered one of Japan's top ten traditional houses alongside the Gassho-style houses of Hida. Designated as a National Important Cultural Property in 2007, this grand farmhouse showcases a unique architectural style where the main house and stable form an L-shape. Please note that as of June 2016, the Chiba House is temporarily closed for preservation and repair work. Check for updates before planning your visit.
