The Former Time Bell Tower, located near Kita Elementary School in Isesaki, is a historical landmark dating back to the Taisho era. This charming brick and reinforced concrete tower, the oldest of its kind in Gunma Prefecture, once served to announce the time to the city. Originally funded by local merchant Keisuke Kobayashi, the current tower is a restored version commemorating the city's 50th anniversary. Visitors can admire its unique Western-style architecture with a domed roof. While you can't enter the tower, its exterior is well worth a visit, especially when exploring the nearby Bukeyashiki-dori street.
