Rakumon Falls, named by Sanyo Rai from a poem by Tanzo Hirose, is located behind Bungo-Taketa Station in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. The 40-meter waterfall can be seen from the city and is just a 3-minute walk from the station. While the water flow may be less voluminous at times, especially in winter when it can freeze, the falls offer a unique view alongside the station. Historically, the falls are linked to the Shirohara irrigation canal built in the Edo period. The best views can be enjoyed from the station platform. Be aware that heavy rainfall may cause the waterfall to drench the road below.
