The Wooden Hexagonal Lighthouse, originally built in 1895 in Miyanoura, is a historic landmark in Sakata, Yamagata. This 12.8-meter tall structure, initially lit by oil lamps and later by acetylene gas and electricity, was moved to its current location in Hiyoriyama Park after a modern lighthouse was built in 1958. As one of Japan's oldest wooden lighthouses, it offers a glimpse into the region's maritime past. Visitors can easily access the lighthouse via a short bus ride from Sakata Station. While exploring the park, take in the scenic views of the Mogami River and the Sea of Japan.
