Shinmei Shrine, located behind Shiroishi Castle in Miyagi Prefecture, is a historic site dating back to the 9th century. Founded by Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, it's dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami and also enshrines Date Masamune and Katakura Kagetsuna. Known as the guardian shrine of Shiroishi, it offers a serene atmosphere with lush greenery. Visitors can easily access it while exploring Shiroishi Castle and the adjacent samurai residences. The shrine is particularly known as a spot for good luck in marriage.
By Car: Head towards Shiroishi Castle and ascend the slope towards the former Shiroishi High School. While vehicle entry is restricted for those visiting Shiroishi Castle, access is permitted for those with business at Shinmei Shrine. Please proceed to the shrine's parking area. Note: The shrine is adjacent to Shiroishi Castle.
