The Mikasagawa River, also known as the Ishido River, flows through Fukuoka City, originating in Dazaifu. While parts of the river are lined with concrete and run alongside highways, offering a modern urban view, it lacks dedicated walking paths and may not be a primary tourist attraction. However, the river holds historical significance, having played a role in Hakata's flood control and development since the era of the warlord Otomo Sorin. The river flows from Dazaifu through Fukuoka Airport and into Hakata Bay. The best views can be found near Higashi-Hie Station.
