Ueda Clan Lord's Residence Gate (Ueda High School Main Gate)

Overview

Located near Ueda Castle, the Ueda Clan Lord's Residence Gate now serves as the main gate for Ueda High School. This historic gate, surrounded by a moat and earthen walls, offers a glimpse into the Edo period. Originally part of the Sanada clan's residence, the gate was rebuilt in 1790 and features a distinctive yakui-mon style. Visitors can admire the architecture and imagine the lives of former lords. The gate is easily accessible while walking from Ueda Station to Ueda Castle. Although the gate's interior is not typically open to the public, the exterior provides a worthwhile historical experience.
