Located in Takehara's historic preservation district, Shorenji Temple offers a serene escape with notable cultural treasures. The temple is a 15-minute walk from Takehara Station. Known for its exquisite garden, often called "Little Gion," it also houses the "Goryeo Bell," a nationally designated Important Cultural Property dating back to the 10th century. Originally a study hall for the Kohayakawa clan, the temple features an impressive main hall, scripture house, and the graves of the Rai family. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and explore the temple's historical significance, with the best views of the town from the main gate's steps. Visit during the spring to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
