Mangetsuji Temple, located a short walk from the famed Usuki Stone Buddhas, offers a serene complement to your visit. Founded by the priest Renjo, who is said to have carved the stone buddhas, this temple features notable sights including the unique Kihara Stone Buddhas (Nio statues) with their partially buried appearance, and the impressive Hiyoshi Pagoda, one of Japan's largest Hokyo-intou pagodas. Visitors can also freely ring the temple bell. The temple is easily accessible by bus from JR Kunisaki Station, making it a worthwhile stop when exploring the Usuki area.
