Located in Nakoso-no-Seki Park in Iwaki, Fukushima, the Kokufuden Experience Learning Facility offers visitors a glimpse into Heian-era architecture and gardens. This free facility features a meticulously crafted traditional Japanese garden with streams, evoking the elegance of ancient Kyoto. Visitors can explore the building's interior, often used for local events and exhibitions. The park itself, with its historical significance as a former checkpoint, provides a serene setting for a stroll. Kokufuden is easily accessible by car (5 minutes from Nakoso Station) and offers a peaceful retreat into Japanese history and culture. Open from 9:00 to 17:00, but closed the 3rd Wednesday of each month (or the following day if it's a holiday) and on New Year's Day.
