Komine Castle, once hailed as the gateway to Oshu, dates back to the 14th century and was completed in 1632 by Lord Niwa Nagashige. Though largely destroyed in the Boshin War of 1868, the three-story turret and the Maegomon Gate have been faithfully reconstructed. Visitors can explore the castle grounds, admire the stonework, and see remnants of the Boshin War in the preserved wood. Located a 5-minute walk from Shirakawa Station, it's easily accessible. Open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM during spring, summer, and autumn, and until 4:00 PM in winter.
