Tounan-in Temple, founded by En no Gyoja, is located in Yoshino, Nara Prefecture. It's a short walk from Yoshinoyama Station (accessible by ropeway, though service is limited). The temple is known for its beautiful Tahoto pagoda, dating back to 1564, and its connection to the poet Matsuo Basho, who stayed here in 1684. The weeping cherry blossoms around the pagoda are particularly stunning. Many find it a peaceful alternative to the more crowded cherry blossom viewing spots. Visit in the afternoon to enjoy the serene atmosphere and admire the pagoda and surrounding scenery.
