Akita Dog Museum

Overview

Located in Odate, Akita Prefecture, the Akita Dog Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history, ecology, and lineage of Akita dogs. The museum, run by the Akita Dog Preservation Society, features exhibits on Akita dog breeding, biographies, and other related materials. Visitors can see real Akita dogs, such as Yuki-chan and Kurobee, on the premises. Outside, find the "Hachiko Looking Homeward" statue, which uses the base of the original Hachiko statue. The museum is accessible by bus from Odate Station. Open to visitors of all ages, it offers a unique glimpse into the world of this iconic Japanese breed.
