The Shima Pot Holes are a natural wonder formed by stones carving into the riverbed over many years, creating unique, mortar-shaped depressions. Designated as a prefectural natural monument, the site features eight pot holes, with the largest reaching up to 3 meters in diameter. Located in Shima, Nakanojo Town, Gunma Prefecture, it's accessible via a 26-minute bus ride from Nakanojo Station. While the water volume can sometimes obscure the holes, the surrounding autumn foliage adds to the scenic beauty. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes for the steep, narrow steps leading to the river. There is also an adjacent cafe and shop.
