Mount Nyūtō, also known as Mount Eboshi on the Iwate side, is located northeast of the renowned Nyūtō Onsen-kyō hot spring village. The mountain resembles a breast-like shape and is known for its rich alpine flora, including the high-altitude Tashiro-daira marshland. Hiking trails are well-maintained, with options like the Ipponmatsu and Magoroku routes, and a longer route from Kaniba Onsen. The summit offers panoramic views, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season. Be aware that the area beyond Tashiro-daira is above the tree line, offering stunning views but with fewer broadleaf trees. Access is via bus from Tazawako Station to Nyūtō Onsen, followed by a 150-minute walk.
