Mito Toshogu Shrine, founded in 1621 by Tokugawa Yorifusa to enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu, is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from Mito Station. The shrine also honors Yorifusa. Visitors can see existing bronze lanterns donated by Yorifusa. Rebuilt in 1962 after being destroyed in the war, the shrine offers a glimpse into the history of the Tokugawa clan. The golden torii gate with the Tokugawa crest is a notable feature. It's an ideal spot for a quick visit while exploring Mito, especially for those with limited time before catching a train. The shrine is accessible via stairs.
