Maruo Church

Overview

The Maruo Church, established in 1972, is a serene, white church located in the Maruo area of Shin-Kamigoto Town. Originally a missionary church of Aosagau Church, it stands on a hill offering beautiful views of Ariwaka Bay. The church features modern architecture, distinct from the designs of Tetsukawa Yosuke, despite being located in his birthplace. Inside, visitors can admire the stained glass with red cross motifs and a ship-bottom-style ceiling. The church is a 25-minute walk (2 km) from Enokizu Port or a 2-minute walk from the Shiragiku Hoikuen-mae bus stop. It continues to serve a local congregation, offering a peaceful atmosphere for reflection.
