Kita no Itsukushima Bentengu Shrine is a striking vermilion shrine located on the west coast of Rishiri Island, near the famous Human-Faced Rock and Sleeping Bear Rock. Perched atop Ryujin Rock (Dragon God Rock), it's dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of wealth and music, and was built to honor her protection of a ship caught in a storm. The shrine is known for its unique four-sided design, allowing visitors to offer prayers from any direction. Easily accessible from the Rishiri Island loop road, it offers a picturesque view of the rugged coastline. Visit during the day to fully appreciate the vibrant colors against the backdrop of the Sea of Japan.
