Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine is the head shrine of thousands of Kumano shrines across Japan. Dedicated to the deities Fusumi and Hayatama, it houses over 1,000 sacred treasures in its Shinpo-kan (treasure hall) and features a giant Nagi tree, a designated natural monument. The shrine is historically significant, having received the title of 'Kumano Gongen' early among the Kumano Sanzan shrines. Located in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture, it's easily accessible, just a short bus ride from Shingu Station. Don't miss the Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Festival held annually on October 15th and 16th, a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The vibrant vermilion buildings contrast beautifully with the surrounding greenery, offering a serene and powerful atmosphere for visitors.
