Hōrin-ji Temple, also known as Mitsuidera, is located in Ikaruga, Nara Prefecture, a 35-minute walk (2.3km) from Horyuji Station. Founded in 622 by Prince Yamashiro no Ōe to pray for the recovery of his father, Prince Shotoku, the temple features a reconstructed three-story pagoda, rebuilt in 1975 after being destroyed by lightning. The temple houses several important cultural properties, including an Eleven-Headed Kannon statue and a Yakushi Nyorai seated statue. Visitors can explore the serene grounds and admire the Asuka-period Buddhist statues in the Kondo Hall. The temple offers a peaceful atmosphere, especially during the autumn special opening, making it an ideal spot for quiet contemplation away from the crowds.
