Overview

Yuhidai, located in Utoro, Shari, is a scenic spot renowned for its breathtaking sunset views over the Sea of Okhotsk. Situated on a hill in the Utoro Kagawa district, at an altitude of 60m, it offers panoramic views of the Utoro harbor and the iconic Mount Oronko. Accessible by a 50-minute bus ride from Shiretoko-Shari Station followed by a 15-minute walk, Yuhidai is a must-visit for photographers and nature enthusiasts. While the sunset is the main attraction, the area also provides beautiful views of the snow-covered Utoro Port in winter. The best time to visit is during sunset for the chance to witness a spectacular display of colors over the horizon. Note that the observation area is relatively small and can get crowded during peak hours.
