Visit the Shirahatano Icho, also known as Sakasaicho (inverted ginkgo), a designated natural monument of Fukushima Prefecture. This approximately 260-year-old ginkgo tree stands tall in a rural area just north of Route 113 in Shinchi Town. Legend says that Date Masamune planted an inverted ginkgo whip here when he invaded Shinchi. The tree, reaching about 25 meters in height with a trunk circumference of about 11 meters, is best visited during the autumn foliage season. It's an easily accessible and impressive natural landmark.
