Takanosu Shrine, located in Kitaakita City, Akita Prefecture, is steeped in local legend. The shrine's origins trace back to the "White Hawk Legend," involving a pair of hawks and the establishment of a Hachiman Shrine at the base of a large zelkova tree. The shrine was later renamed Takanosu Shrine after the merging of Atago and Ise halls. The annual festival, held at the end of July, features a procession through the town. A highlight is the large zelkova tree in front of the torii gate, designated as a natural monument. The shrine is approximately 5 minutes by taxi from JR Takanosu Station.
