Daitsuji Temple

Overview

Daitsuji Temple, established in 1601 by Yoshikatsu Yamamura, the Kiso magistrate after the Battle of Sekigahara, is located in the upper district of Kiso Fukushima. The temple's bell tower gate, constructed in 1778, is the oldest existing wooden structure in Fukushima. Visitors can explore the serene grounds and view the memorial tower of Marihime, daughter of Takeda Shingen and wife of Kiso Yoshimasa. The temple offers a peaceful atmosphere and a glimpse into the region's history. It's a great place to visit while strolling through the historic upper district.
