Yakushi-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Nara, was established in 680 by Emperor Tenmu to pray for his empress's recovery. The temple is easily accessible from Kintetsu Nishinokyo Station. Key highlights include the exquisite Yakushi Triad, considered masterpieces of Buddhist art, and a three-storied pagoda. Note that the East Pagoda is currently under renovation and will be unavailable for viewing for approximately 10 years.
