The Ippitsukeijo Shokanhi Monument is located within the Maruoka Castle grounds in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. It commemorates the famous short letter written by Honda Sakuzemon Shigetugu, a vassal of Tokugawa Ieyasu, to his wife: "A word of caution: be careful of fire, don't let Osen cry, and fatten the horse." Osen was his son Senchiyo, who later became Honda Narishige, the 6th lord of Maruoka Castle. The monument is near the Maruoka Castle keep and is a significant cultural landmark. Visitors can access it by taking the Keifuku Bus from JR Fukui Station to Honmaruoka, then walking 8 minutes. The city holds an annual "Ippitsukeijo Award" for short letters, with winning entries displayed around the castle.
