This preserved apartment building, once a 5-story municipal housing complex, was devastated by a 14.5-meter tsunami, with water reaching the fourth floor. While the interior is inaccessible, a walk around the perimeter offers a sobering glimpse into the lives disrupted by the tsunami. Plates near the newly built toilet also introduce Rikuzentakata City's earthquake remains and evacuation routes during disasters.
