Mount Yatsugatake Akatake, the highest peak in the Yatsugatake Mountains, stands at 2,899 meters and is located in Oizumi-cho, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Popular among hikers, the mountain offers various trails ranging in difficulty, with some including rocky areas and chains. The summit provides stunning panoramic views, including Mount Fuji on clear days. The best time to visit is from mid-June to early July when alpine plants like Tsukumo grass are in bloom. Several mountain huts are available for overnight stays, offering meals and sometimes even showers or baths. Access to the trailhead involves a bus ride to Minotoguchi from Chino Station, followed by a walk to the mountain huts.
