Jizo Rock, a 50-meter tall rock formation on the west coast of Rebun Island, resembles a stone slab standing upright from the sea. Its name comes from its resemblance to a praying Jizo figure. While access to the base of the rock is restricted due to potential rockfalls, it can be viewed from a distance, including from the Motomachi area and the Momoiwa Neko-dai Observatory. The rock is a notable landmark and was featured in the Japanese film "Kita no Kanariatachi" (A Chorus of Angels). The best views are said to be from the sea, where the praying figure is most apparent. Consider visiting in clear weather for optimal viewing.
