The Former Shioya Branch Shop, a nationally registered tangible cultural property, is located in the heart of Chizu, a former post town on the Inaba Highway. This beautifully preserved Meiji-era building offers a glimpse into the past with its traditional Japanese architecture, including a unique ship-bottom ceiling on the second floor. While the restaurant inside may be closed, visitors can freely explore the charming back garden, which also houses the Katsumi Nishikawa Film Memorial Hall, a Western-style building. Located a 10-minute walk from Chizu Station on the Chizu Express or JR Inbi Line, it's an ideal spot to experience the historical atmosphere of Chizu. Open from 9:00 to 17:00, but closed on Wednesdays, admission is free.
